According to a High Commission press release, the scholarships are awarded on the basis of a strict criteria involving merit and need for financial assistance. The Scholarships will be awarded according to the final list of merits among all the application.
Under the programme, each successful student receives stipend of Rs. 24,000 as assistance for one year for following their studies.
The Government of Pakistan is awarding Jinnah Educational Scholarships, named for the founder of Pakistan Mohammad Ali Jinnah, for past 6 years through Pakistan High Commission in Sri Lanka.
Since 2005, over Rs. 20 million worth of scholarships have been awarded for promoting the Sri Lankan youth and the education sector in Sri Lanka and over 800 Sri Lankan Students have benefited from this scheme.
During year 2011 the Government of Pakistan awarded SL Rs. 2.56 million worth of educational scholarships to 107 bright Sri Lankan O/L and A/L students under Jinnah Educational Scholarship programme.
Application forms for submitting nominations for award of scholarships may be collected from the High Commission located at 53/6 Gregory�s Road, Colombo 7. The Last date for submission of applications is 19 March 2012.
